Nostos, the literary journal, presents a unique poetry and art reading for its new “Eastern Wind” issue. Ten writers and an artist of classical Chinese watercolor will gather at Copperfield’s Books in San Rafael on November 23, at 2:00 pm.
Included in the list of extraordinary writers are Roy Mash, Amanda Moore, Joseph Zaccardi, Sharon Pretti, and James Tipton who will read their work illustrating how Eastern philosophy, form, imagery, and language have influenced Western writing, American West in particular.
The range of voices is extraordinary. Ten writers! You will hear haiku, haibun, and tanka as well as Western free verse that embodies the images and subtleties of Chinese, Japanese, and Indian writing. And one of the two artists contributing to this special edition of Nostos, CiCi Chao, will present and discuss her watercolor paintings created with ancient Chinese brush and ink techniques.
Those who attend will receive a free copy of the first issue of Nostos, the issue that started it all off (as long as supplies last).
So plan to attend this one-of-a-kind event! Saturday, November 23, 2:00pm, at Copperfield’s, San Rafael.
