We’re happy to take part in the inaugural Marin Comics Fest, taking place at libraries and other local venues throughout Marin County from September 9-16. Discover new comics, books, and graphic novels and meet the illustrators and authors behind them! This festival is intended for all ages so bring the entire family.
At Copperfield's, we're hosting Ben Costa and James Parka on Thursday, September 14 at 4pm. Their clever graphic novel, Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo: The Road to Epoli, introduces teen readers to a memorable pair of protagonists: Rickety Stitch, a skeleton minstrel who travels throughout the fantasy realm of Eem with Goo, his jiggling cube of a sidekick. Costa and Parks have been creating the world of Eem together for years online, and their solid world-building strengthens every panel; they manage to both spoof and pay homage to the fantasy tradition, while creating characters we care about.
Copperfield's is also hosting two of the hottest comic creators, Serena Valentino and Landry Q. Walker, on Saturday, September 16 at 1pm. Walker lives in El Sobrante, California, and has been making stories happen for over 20 years. His work includes Star Wars novellas, the beloved comic book series Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the 8th Grade, and the celebrated superhero epic Danger Club. San Francisco-based Valentino is best known for weaving tales that combine mythos and guile with her work on comics. She has also published two Young Adult novels.
