Set on a small ostrich farm in the Mojave (loosely inspired by the Sacramento Valley dairy farm where April's own mother grew up), 142 Ostriches explores the muddled love of a desert ranch family long-mired in disconnect, drug abuse and denial.
AUTHOR: April Dávila received her master’s degree in writing from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers and a past resident at the Dorland Mountain Arts Colony. Her blog, at aprildavila.com, was recently listed by Writer's Digest as one of the 101 Best Websites for Writers. A fourth-generation Californian, she lives in La Cañada Flintridge with her husband and two children. She is a practicing Buddhist, half-hearted gardener, and occasional runner. 142 Ostriches is her first novel.
Crissi Langwell is the author of 11 books across several genres that include romance, magical realism, women’s fiction, and young adult. Her passion is the story of the underdog, and her novels tell stories of homeless teens, determined heroines, family issues, free spirits and more. Beyond writing, Crissi is an avid bookworm and a yoga enthusiast. She pulls her inspiration from the ocean, and breathes freely among redwoods. She lives in Northern California with her husband and their blended family of three young adult kids, and a spoiled and sassy cat.
